Homegrown Healing

  • Thamee (Upstairs) 1320B H St. NE Washington, DC 20002 USA (map)

homegrown healing: cultivating collective wholeness through reciprocity, ritual, compassion, gratitude, love

There is no dictionary definition for "homegrown healing" although it's a monumental part of the healing arts. The definition I assembled incorporates the work of Cynthia B. Dillard (Nana Mansa II of Mpeasem, Ghana, West Africa), the first Mary Frances Early Endowed Professor of Teacher Education at the University of Georgia, in which she uses the list above for describing aspects of "a healing methodology."

In the quest for self-healing, we find collective healing. This class will include both solo and group/partner work as we practice mindfulness. This takes on many forms and will look like breathing, stretching, prayer, etc.

Simple Touch Community Healing (@eva.cuddles) is a reiki infused mind-body-spirit practice focused on collective-healing, communal growth, and compassion for others. Created by Eva Evelyn, a reiki healer and student at Teachers College, Columbia University pursuing a Master of Arts in Psychology and Education with a concentration in Spirituality and Mind-Body Practice. This will be the last class offered in D.C. for awhile, since she is moving to NYC.
